Ocala has two seasons, the wet season and the dry season. The wet season starts in late May and goes to mid October. The dry season starts in mid October and goes to late May. The wet season is very humid and the dry season is of course quite dry and pleasant.
Winter, such as it is, in Ocala is the best time of year. It is dry and in the 70’s. The winter basically revolves around a series of cold fronts that come from the northwest. These fronts bring in temporarily cooler weather. After a cold front Ocala will have a couple of days in the high 50’s to mid 60’s and then things will warm back up until the next front comes along. The Ocala area does get a mild frost several times each winter as a result of these cold fronts.
The summers here in Ocala are hot and humid. Some people can’t imagine the constant heat and humidity but it’s like pretending to live up north without heat in the winter. Every where is air conditioned, your house, car, stores and where you work. In addition to air conditioning being everywhere, you just get used to the heat. It does take a year or so but your blood actually thins out. I thought this was crazy when I first heard it but now I’ve been in Ocala for several years I don’t like it when the temperatures get below 70. I came here from a part of Maine where it seldom gets above 80 in the summer and can get as low as minus 30 in the winter.

As I always like to say, “The heat and humidity of Ocala summers are a small price to pay for no winter.”
